The myths associated with a destination can be really fascinating. Often a part of epics or folklores, these myths go on to define a land in many ways; so much so that people come seeking that place to enrich themselves. Pandavan Para or Pandavan Rock is one such popular destination that is visited by tourists from far and wide. However, it is not just the myth that is associated with the destination that attracts visitors, it is also the stunning beauty of the surroundings and the lush greenery that is a visual treat to the eyes.
Located around 2 km away from the town of Chengannoor in the Alappuzha district, Pandavan Para is a destination veiled in mystery. It is considered that during their exile years, this spot was one of the hideouts for the Pandavas (from the legendary epic Mahabharata). There is a temple at the hilltop which is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The locale gives you picturesque views of many interesting rocks of different shapes like ones resembling a leaping frog and the musical instrument ‘Maddalam’. The hillock gives us breathtaking, panoramic views of the town nearby and the lush green vegetation around.
